“Laura’s Theme” was founded in 1998 by a Shelton Christian Church member named Ruth. It is an active ministry of love and encouragement. We strive to show those who are ill, injured, recovering from surgery, discouraged, etc. God’s love through giving gift baskets, sending cards, praying for them and visiting. We give a basket of baby items to babies born to families in our church, a small gift bag to the children in our church at Christmas and also to our senior citizens at Easter.
“Why ‘Laura’s Theme’?”
Our name was inspired by a teenager in our church, Laura Lohmeyer, whose “theme” was to tell people about Jesus, about the Gospel message of salvation, to show compassion and to tell and/or remind people that God loves them. Laura was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 1997 at the age of 15. She faced the battle against that cancer with full trust in God’s plan for her life. God’s plan was to bring her home to Him, which he did on June 10, 1999.
With God’s blessing, we have been able to continue this ministry based on the desires of Laura’s heart; we strive to continue to do so, based on His continued blessings.
